Is there a village named Vernio ?

Vernio is actually the municipality ("Comune" in italian) , composed by five hamlets

• S.Quirico
• Mercatale 
• S.Ippolito
• Cavarzano
• Montepiano

It's been a private property (fief) of the Bardi family until 1821

Are there shops , public services ... ?

Train Station : Half way between S.Quirico and Mercatale.You can reach Prato - Florence (South) or Bologna (North). Tickets are sold by an automatic machine , remember to have some cash with you. You must validate the ticket before starting - there is a yellow machine on the left side of the main gate

Bus : To/From  Prato . You can buy tickets at bars and tobacco shops. The bus stops are very close one another along the main street

Pharmacies: Three of them , in S.Quirico,  Mercatale and Montepiano. One of them in turn is open by night

Duty doctor : "Guardia Medica" in italian. It is a free public service provided by night in Mercatale

Ambulances : "Misericordia" in S.Quirico , "Croce Rossa" (Red Cross)  in Mercatale

ATM : Two in Mercatale :  BANCA TOSCANA and CASSA DI RISPARMIO DI PRATO

Food shops: Supermarket COOP , little grocery shops , butchery

Restaurants:  S.Quirico "Il Ritrovo" ,"Lo sceriffo"

Gas stations: TAMOIL in S.Quirico , TOTAL in Mercatale

Garage and tyre repair service : In S.Quirico and in Mercatale

(Roman Catholic) Churches: S.Quirico , Mercatale

Newsstands: one in S.Quirico , one in Mercatale
