The main product from apiculture is honey, a natural food principally made up of fructose, glucose and, in small parts, mineral salts, enzymes and vitamins, extremely assimilable and digestible by human organism.
The colour and flavour of the honey varies depending on the flower species from which it was gathered.
Royal jelly, only food of the queen bee for all her life, is for man, a stimulant which improves his general state of health, assisting intra-cellular metabolism. Propolis, a substance which coats the inside of the hive, has a disinfectant function, and thus is used also by man, for external use (as disinfectant for small wounds) and for internal use to ease oral cavity disease.
